1 Tom's updated the RPi story: "A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that Upton expects the current shortages to continue for a year, rather than that he expects all stock issues to have been resolved by this time next year. "There’s a vast difference between feeling confident that we’ll be free of shortages in a year and feeling that there will be a year of shortages," Upton told us. To be clearer, this means that he expects the situation to improve over time and to be completely resolved within 12 months."

2 Intel:  Let's add a feature with very few uses!
AMD:  Okay, but we'll do it janky and half-assed.
Also AMD:  Guess what! Turns out that a janky, half-assed implementation works better.

3 Yeah, a full AVX512 implementation seems like a thermal bridge too far for general-purpose server CPUs, but AMD's two-cycle version works surprisingly well.

4 Also, from the rumours, AMD is finally going to make something that I really want:  high core-count, low TDP processors.  For my purposes, I'd love to have a 16 or 32 core machine that would max out around 20W, but would run less than 1.0W when not being used to build world or play 4k video.  I mean, web browsers 25 years ago could display html just fine running on a 80486.  (And don't tell me that I want an interactive, web 2.0 experience, because I hate that)

Apple pies are delicious. But never mind apple pies. What colour is a green orange?
