- It's the attack of the 32GB unbuffered DIMMs! (AnandTech)
Still waiting for a proper detailed review though.
- Europe is employing magic fairies to secure its borders. (TechDirt)
Well, a Magic Fairy app. It doesn't work at all, just the same as magic fairies, who are lazy little buggers when they're not under the lash.
- iPhone sales are down 12% since last year which has to suck for Apple because they can't produce a new product to save themselves. (Tech Crunch)
- Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab S6. (Tech Crunch)
Only in 10" size, nothing in 8". My Mediapad is still working pretty well though.
- bootOS is an operating system that fits entirely in the boot sector of your disk drive. (GitHub)
Take that ChibiOS and your "only a few kilobytes".
The creator has a book out on writing programs that fit entirely in the boot sector. (Lulu.com)
- Some YouTubers I'm vaguely aware of got their talk cancelled from PAX because. (One Angry Gamer)
I mean, literally because.
That's a message worthy of Twitter's own Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.
"Unfortunately we have to remove you."
Nice messaging, PAX team.

I gave up and bought an S4 this spring. SD 835 is pretty good for gaming.
The 10" screen is nice, but actually overkill for mobile gaming, and it's a heck of a lot heavier than my 8" S2.

Tablets: I "upgraded" to the S5E... scare-quotes because somehow in all the research I did before the purchase I missed the whole thing about how the 5GHz antenna is borked on the damned thing. I kind of miss my 8" S2 but I was able to hand it down to someone who was using an ancient hand-me-down iPad and considers the S2 to be a SUPREME improvement. And setting my WiFi to no-5GHz mode means I'm mostly able to stay online. Sigh.
So... meh. *shrug*

The S2 was pretty nice, if you didn't need a good GPU. When frickin' Farmville plays like garbage, something's wrong.
I still have my S2 but something's wrong with it--it gets down to about 25% charge and will shut itself off.

Devices mostly estimate available battery capacity by voltage, and as the battery gets older the voltage curve changes, so that the device guesses 25% when it's really down to 3%.

Huh. Makes sense. Looks like a replacement battery can be had for $30-50, and you only need a spudger.

Also, I really only got 18 months out of the battery, maybe less, before it started doing that. Disappointing. I did use it a lot, though.
