- UTF-8 string indexing sucks because UTF-8 is a semantic minefield full of anthrax.
There are three ways to handle string indexing for UTF-8: Do it badly, do it slowly, or don't do it at all.
- Huawei's P30 Pro is here. (Thurrott.com)
It's very good. Don't buy it.
- Targeted web ads work about 4% better than regular ones. (Hacker News)
Or maybe not. There is the usual yelling about the methodology of the study.
- A 2500W flower supply for you. (Tom's Hardware)

I was watching a movie yesterday, and my phone slid out of my pocket and dropped literally a few inches to the spacer between my seat and the next one. Face down. In spite of such a short drop the glass cracked about 3/4" right in the middle. And I just replaced the screen in January. So annoying.
Even worse, the replacement glass isn't a match for the OEM stuff--the latter has nice chamfered edges, whereas the replacement has vertical sides, which ruins the smooth edge all the way around.
I'm a bit mad at you for making me read the article because right up to the point where he showed the zoom comparison between the Pixel and OP and this, I was like "meh, I don't care all that much about the camera" and then I had to get a drool bucket.
Aside: Chinese phones' lack of an app drawer is stupid and someone should be sent Siberia for a winter. Also, every Android phone's battery indicator sucks except Xiaomi's, and then only if you turn on the optional "draw the percentage INSIDE THE BATTERY ICON" feature, because it doesn't have the obnoxious optional "draw the percentage NEXT TO the battery icon feature (and you can never replace the icon with the number. What the hell, people?) Worse, last time i looked at this (ICS timeframe) the only way to replace the icon with a number was a custom ROM! What the double hell?
Fortunately, this phone is stupidly expensive so I don't have to worry about it.

All the Chinese phones want to be iPhones and the iPhone UI is terrible.

Yeah, so I guess it's worth calling out where one of them gets it right (that is, the ability to (effectively) only have the battery percentage on the notification bar.)
I think Miui lets you have an app drawer, too, although it has to be enabled in settings (either that or I am using Nova launcher, and I can't remember which. I have Nova launcher installed but I don't remember at the moment if it's on or not and I don't remember how to tell.)

Love Nova Launcher. Its just like stock Android if you want it to be, but you can tweak anything and everything.
