The large L3 cache on Zen 2 seems to give a significant boost to AMD on this benchmark - the 3700X outperforms the Threadripper 2990WX. So this may or may not apply to your particular workload.

It'll be about as available as the 3900X, no doubt. I was in Micro Center yesterday and one of the sales guys was talking about it to a customer. They had them in stock on release day, and sold out. Then a month later they got a few, which lasted four days, and they've been out since then.
I'd love to have more cores but I don't really need 'em.
