- Samsung enters mass production of 16Gbit DRAM. That means we could see 32GB modules for desktops and laptops, which means I could upgrade this Dell to 64GB... Maybe?

I bet that Dell can't handle 32GB DIMMs. Wouldn't surprise me. My new work comp arrived today. I like it, but the crazy design....oy.
6-pin motherboard power supply instead of the stock 24-pin, and the SATA power connectors are all off the motherboard, not the PSU. And the placement of the VRMs is, well, weird. There don't seem to be pictures of it online yet; I may have to take one myself.
Also, it came with an 8GB DDR4-2666 DIMM that has 19-19-19 timings--and yet if you try to configure it with a second one of them, they want $129, which is a stone-cold ripoff.

Re: the 8086K. Predictable, once the turbo tables were released. It's got the exact same table as the 8700K, except the 1-core turbo is 5.0 instead of 4.7. Oh, and the base is higher but it'll never run at that speed.
About the best you can say is that it's so highly binned you've got a better chance of a 5.1GHz OC than on an 8700K.

I can't afford 64GB of RAM right now anyway, so the point is moot. If they can ramp up 16Gbit chips, that will effectively double output and should gradually relieve the shortage.
