  • Took my blood pressure this afternoon.  120/77.  It's always lower when I come in after a walk or working in the garden, but I hadn't done either, at least not in the past few hours.

Just six weeks ago it was 70 points higher.

  • Tried out my new lawn trimmer that I bought to replace my old Bosch model that went phut last week.  It works.  It actually works great.

I don't like the handle arrangement as much as the old model, but it was half the price with a battery of the Bosch without, and Bosch doesn't make the old model anymore and their new model has the exact same handle arrangement as this cheap one.

Power Blade brand, if anyone is looking.

  • Got a couple of new roasting pans from Kmart to replace the old ones that had gone rusty, which I had also bought from Kmart.  I know, I know.

The new ones were slightly more expensive which I put down to inflation, but they turn out to be far higher quality.  They weigh at least twice as much as the old ones, and seem to have a better non-stick coating as well.

1 "In a 355 - 247 vote, the parliament said that you can't call a plant-based product "steak" unless it was produced by feeding the plants to a cow. "  That is an unfortunate legal loophole. Because you KNOW the greens are gonna try and feed us steaks made from cow patties.

3 Little disturbing that nearly half (5/12) of the voters were OK with this rule, especially when nitpicky stuff like that usually has them up in arms.  But I guess "saving the planet" justifies it in their minds, or something.

Also, congrats on the BP reduction!  I dropped my A1C from 10.5 in May to 7.8 in August this year, and my blood pressure, which was getting high, is coming back down, too.  It's nice feeling better, isn't it?

4 I wonder if the Micropython and Adafruit people will add freethreading support.  Right now they don't even support interrupt handlers, which is a stone-cold basic feature, because of Python's single-threaded nature.  ("Use async" is the official suggestion, along with some muttering about how polling isn't ackshually all that bad.)

5 Ah, Holotori - my favorite subgroup in Hololive.  It is a pity that they did not do more off-collabs and performances together before Mumei graduated.

On the other hand, I think it is perfectly satisfactory if steaks are made from the vegans themselves, which will neatly solve a number of issues.

Apple pies are delicious. But never mind apple pies. What colour is a green orange?
