I fail to see the point of this. If it were an actual C64 that'd be one thing, but it's an Atom-powered PC built into a crappy keyboard that's missing a bunch of keys. You can buy a Vic-20 from a top-rated seller on Ebay for $50. You could probably gut it and drop in your own hardware for less than this will cost.

Part of the firmware is a C-64 emulator. In one of its modes of operation, it will act just like a C-64 -- except it will be a whole lot faster. It will run C-64 software.

I have no real use for it either, but it's kind of cute in an ugly way.
The Amiga they're promising for later this year might be a different matter; AmigaOS is still in development, even though the hardware has been defunct for many years. Worst case it looks like a good HTPC. Though admittedly I don't need an HTPC.

(let's see if I need to log in to comment here.)
Steven, I think I read that someplace, but it doesn't really change my mind: There's C64 emulators out there, and there's also real C64s out there, for that matter, and I thought I read the price of this was going to be quite a bit more than an Atom-powered PC should cost (bearing in mind that Lenovo and others sell them for $350.)
I would (almost) never tell someone they shouldn't buy something they want for aesthetic/nostalgic reasons. I'm just saying this is one of those things that isn't rational to buy.
(OTOH I think the idea of a new Amiga is really neat--when I was a kid I wanted one of those almost as much as I wanted an Atari ST.)
