Gigabit? Pfui!
As mentioned earlier, I needed to back up 9TB of data over the weekend.
Gigabit ethernet is really, really slow.

Hmm, how fast are your drives? Â AFIK SATA ][ is only 3Gb/s (and the sustained is only as fast as it can come off the platter, or maybe 80MB/s). Â Maybe link aggregation? Â A 1988 Volvo 240DL full of DVDs?

Link aggregation is the way to go, at least until we can get 10Gb. The drives are in 12-disk RAID-5 arrays, so potentially capable of several hundred MB/s.
