Deplatformed

So I finally put my Minecraft modpack up on Curseforge.

It's in experimental mode right now while I update the page to make it look a bit more substantial and track down a problem with long load times.

And I just tracked down the problem.

Vanilla Backport
, which conveniently bundles together backports of feature releases since 1.20.1 (in this case, since it's a 1.20.1 mod), uses a library mod called Platform.

Platform, according to the load time profiler mod I'm using, takes almost twelve minutes to load.

All the other 215 mods combined?  Six minutes.

That's on my older (Zen 3) laptop running in silent (low power) mode, so a good computer will handle it in half the time, but swapping that one mod out for five separate backport mods reduced the load time from just under twelve minutes to just over six.

And now I need to test again.

Update: With the help of the profiler - and a quick reboot - I've got the Reload Manager stage of the startup down from ten minutes to two.  Also double-checked and the problem is definitely the Platform mod, so that gets kicked to the curb.

Update Two: Two minutes from clicking the button to being ready to play - on a slow laptop.  Good enough.

Update Three: Version 1.1.1 is up on Curseforge now.

1 I'll try to try it out tonight.
I see you're not using Biomes O' Plenty.  I used to like that mod a lot, and I still more or less do, but for some reason I haven't gotten around to looking into, it does something weird, in that (for example) the mod adds a bunch of trees, but they don't work like most modded trees, in that you can't make chests or a bunch of other stuff.  Probably there's a TreeDict like the OreDict that generically creates those recipes without the mod author having to do it, but BOP doesn't do whatever's needed to make that work.  It's very annoying when you start up in a world that's full of maple trees around spawn that you can really only use for basic building and charcoal.

2 I'll update it first - the current version has a problem with really excessive load times.

3 Well, I've uploaded version 1.1.1 and it's now awaiting approval.

4 Also, yeah, I've tried to add mods that work smoothly together.  I thought I had the problem you mention but in fact most of the new wood types (there are a lot of them) do work for making chests - they just make different chests.

5 Well, that was quick.  New version has been approved.

6 Depending on what modpack you use, you'll get different chest for each wood type, or just one.  No big deal either way, but it's really annoying that BOP doesn't let it happen.
Did you put something like Sophisticated Storage in there, so players can have big chests?

7 Also:  this is probably no surprise, but you can't find your modpack on CurseForge's launcher or ATLauncher yet.
Actually, the experimental tag apparently blocks CurseForge's app.

8 Oh, right.  Yeah, you can download the zip file, but it won't show up in the launcher.

I did have Sophisticated Storage in there, but at some point I took it out and I don't remember why.  I do have Sophisticated Backpacks.

Apple pies are delicious. But never mind apple pies. What colour is a green orange?
