We've been having power glitches at the office all afternoon, just half a second or so. My PC rebooted earlier, but it has a cheap power supply, so that was no surprise. Most of the other, older, machines survived.

One of the servers rebooted after the last glitch. It's on a UPS.

1 Exactly what is the point of an Interruptible Uninterruptible Power Supply?

One of my favorite moments in IT came when our production servers all came down at once because the hardware guys were "testing the UPS."

Shortly thereafter the company decided to go to 3rd party hardware hosting.

5 Power outage problems certainly bring out the most inappropriate comments, don't they?

6 If I was running the full version of Minx (which is a couple of days away) those would have triggered the macro-processor (macros in Minx are marked by curly brackets).

It's kind of cute how hard they try.  But not very.  I think I'll delete them anyway.
