When I Held Your Brain In My Arms

Song of the Day is When I Held Your Brain In My Arms from MST3K (the Terror from the Year 5000 episode):
There was a time, so bright and gay,
It seems like only yesterday,
When I held your brain in my arms.
Your adrenaline was like wine,
Sweet perfume was your endocrine,
When I held your brain in my arms.
Ahh. They don't write them like that anymore. (They never did. — Ed.)

1 Heyas, I stopped watching MST3K when Joel left as host. Mike is just rude, not clever, and the show lost a lot for me. I recently came across a copy of this song, When I Held Your Brain In My Arms, and as it was Keven Murphy as Tom Servo doing a solo, I liked it. I was wondering if anyone knew if this was a parody of a crooner song? I know someone who is a trivia person on 50's-and-on crooner/big band, etc, songs, and she said she was not sure if this was a real song or a parody. She drew a blank on this, and said it might be from before her time, in the 20's to 40's, if it was a real song. She said it sounded like it might be Rudy Vallee, but I cannot find a Rudy Vallee song that is titled similarly, or even sounds similar. Vallee songs, as I sampled, are faster and have more jazz rythms. I don't know where to start looking. Can anyone help? Please reply to my e-mail if you would, or here is fine, but prefer e-mail. Thanks.
