Already this year, lawsuits have been filed by Seattle (mayor: Democrat), Baltimore (mayor: Democrat), Cleveland (mayor: Democrat), New York (mayor: Comm... wait, Democrat), Chicago (mayor: Lizard Person), St. Louis (mayor: Democrat), and Columbus (mayor: Democrat).
Wonder what the common factor might be that all these cars are getting stolen.
And I think rather than adding engine immobilisers to budget cars, manufacturers should look into deploying rabid wolverines.

It's playable; I've tried it. It's not very good, but it does only use 0.00000011% of the RAM on my budget laptop.

It uses SIMD instructions so it won't work if you're running an original model Pentium, but it does support modern x86 and Arm CPUs, meaning anything from the last 12 years or so.
Unless you're running Linux under VirtualBox on Windows 11, in which case it probably just goes splat like MongoDB 5.

That's an advance over AMD's current 128 core chips... Except Intel's version uses efficiency cores - E cores - which run at roughly half the speed of full cores.
The details of these E cores are interesting, at least; they look a lot like the fastest high-end cores from just a few years ago.

It's funny, but for some reason I don't feel any great fear of having my Kia stolen around here. Maybe it's because the vice-mayor of my city lives across the street and has a large "back the blue" sign in his yard.
(also, all Kia cars made since late 2021 have immobilizers, something that always gets buried at the end of these stories...)

Can the "immobilizer" in your car be bypassed by someone, such as the manufacturer or the dealership or the loan holder? Do you think car thieves are smarter or stupider than your average (D) politician? I'm sure your local neighbourhood AI chatbot can succinctly answer those questions.

As with avoiding violent crime, the #1 way to make my car less stealable is to stay away from blue cities. Having the immobilizer just restores the status quo where a Kia or Hyundai is no more attractive to thieves than a Toyota or Honda (and probably less).
Do I think car thieves are dumber than their Democrat sponsors? Meh, ton of feathers versus ton of bricks.

Sorry, I inartfully attempted to imply the opposite of what ye inferred. I meant to say that the thieves would remain somehow strangely ahead of the best intentions of the (D) politicians, despite all the clamourings to the contrary.
