That Time A Slime Was Reincarnated
Possibly the best anime of last year, now that I'm catching up, at least in terms of art and animation, music (starting and ending themes and incidental music), directing, and voice acting, is Mushoku Tensei.
The story, on the other hand, is a mess.
As for the main character, well, see the title of this post. It's still worth watching if you can get past that while he grows out of it. Slowly.
A second season has been announced for next year. Which is a bit confusing because the first season was split in half, so there is both a part 2 and a season 2.

Not as "deep" as Mushoku Tensei, but I'm currently watchingTate no Yuusha no Nariagiri (The Rising of the Shield Hero.) I had noticed that a lot of the anime shows and movies that I liked had Kadokawa somewhere in the credits. I looked up the company and found a list of their productions. They haven't disappointed so far.
As for music and end credits, I find Kono Suba's end credits (both versions) absolutely enchanting.
Oddly enough, I have "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime," on my to-watch list. In fact, I think I got it from one of those, "If you liked Kono Suba you might like," sites.

Mess - good description. For some reason the mess leaves me ambivalent about watching the second season. If there's not much else on.....
Reincarnated as a slime - hear they are skipping any more seasons and are going with a movie instead. Haven't followed that one up, so I can't tell how true it is.

Yeah, while the adaptation is top notch, there are two problems. First is the story, which just goes off at right angles for no reason. Second is the two recurring elements that kick you out of immersion every time the show up.
Kumoko, on the other hand, frequently surprises me, but every time it changes direction, the new direction makes complete sense and deepens the story. Yes, of course
that was going to happen, and of course
she'd react that way.

On the other hand, That Spider Show
very clearly ran out of time and/or money in some of the later episodes.
