AMD denied this a bit too strenuously. Looks like the 32GB model is for the Radeon Pro range, for workstation users and not gamers. It is the same card otherwise, though the clock speeds and power consumption will likely be trimmed back a little to make it more acceptable in an office environment.

2 'universities are not as weak as they have chosen to be' is the sort of modeling error that one would expect from the sorts of incompetent lunatics that some of the academic fields are training. PhDs are a small fraction of the population, and faculty even less so. All influence they have is down to persuasion, and many of them have forgotten this, gotten lazy, and rested on doing work to the specifications of their government bureaucrat friends. Behavioral models are pretty much inherently reduced order, many fields are grossly ignorant of basic consequences of this, and they base assumptions of power on some of the stupidest possible model selections. What is happening to universities now is consequence, after their partnerships in screwing over the general public. The smart thing to would be cooperate, accept lumps, and honestly work to understand and fix the problems, which is what we do not see happening.
