Top Story
- Colossal Biosciences has raised another $200 million to de-extinct the woolly mammoth. (VentureBeat)
I mean... Sure. Fine. Why not? It's a herbivore, so the worst it can do is block traffic.
And compared to some of the things money is being spent on right now, this is a gilt-edged investment.
Tech News
- If you are using Windows 10 and Office 365, Microsoft will invited you to get fucked in October. (Tom's Hardware)
You can continue to use Windows 10 - and even pay for another year of support - but Microsoft's own software will stop working.
- When the bullshit is shoveled away, Nvidia's 5070 Ti and 5070 will be 20% faster than the old 4070 Ti and 4070. (WCCFTech)
Unfortunately, they're competing against the 4070 Ti Super and 4070 Super, which are already 10% to 15% faster than the base models.
So the new models are underwhelming at best, unless you are a bullshit afficianado.
- AMD has quietly announced the 7400F, a new six core Ryzen CPU. (WCCFTech)
It's only six cores, and only runs at 4.7GHz, and it's only Zen 4, which means it's only remarkably powerful. Price is expected to be around $149.
- How Cerebras solved the yield problem. (Cerebras)
When you have 900,000 cores on a CPU, it doesn't matter if a few of them don't work. Or even a few thousand. So long as you can route around the broken cores without affecting the overall functionality, it's all good.
And that's what they did.
- The Asus NUC 14 Essential is available now, starting at $170. (Liliputing)
Though that's without RAM, or storage, or an operating system, or anything else. So not quite as much of a bargain unless you already have spare bits to put in it.
The base model is a four core Intel N150, which is not the fastest chip around, but it has 2.5Gbit Ethernet and HDMI and DisplayPort, and supports up to 32GB of RAM.

No, we cannot stop dancing now, as there are still marmots about(and soon, wooly mammoths).

I am hearing a LOT of copium from people who are OK with fake frames.
