  • Is the Dough Spectrum One a true Studio Display competitor?  (9to5Mac)

    This article violates Rule One of the internet.  Rule One, though, is Never read the comments, and the only interesting part of this article is the comments, which point out:

    1. This is only a 4K monitor, not 5K like Apple's Studio Display.
    2. This uses LG's 4K LCD panel, which while quite good is available in much cheaper monitors, including from LG.
    3. "Dough" is a respin of the the company "Eve" which is infamous for never shipping products customers paid for, and seven times never issuing refunds.

1 If the beer companies start firing workers, I'll be really scared.  The massive logjam of useless shits in the tech industry finally getting flushed should make conversations at your local McDonald's drive-through a bit more tech-savvy.  Maybe.
Can AI actually do most tech jobs?  No, but then most tech workers can't either.

2 In theory, 'neural network' based AI should have more sensory or signal processing function than yeast. But, while I can replace the average journalist or futurist with a LLM, or a magic eight ball, those are not anywhere near a good replacement for yeast.
