Azumanga Daioh, if all the girls were Osaka.
Which you can take as a recommendation or a warning, according to taste.
Update: Just finished watching it, and I have to say that Azumanga Daioh where all the girls are Osaka is really really good.
It's a quiet and somewhat slow-moving series, something you probably need to be in the right mood to enjoy, but if you are in that mood, highly recommended.

A new Slayers TV series is coming.
A 4th season was originally planned (after Slayers Try) but was abandoned because of scheduling conflicts with Megumi Hayashibara. Megumi hasn't been confirmed yet to be reprising her role in the new series, but the producers would have to be insane not to get her back.

My new Windows box is named Haruhi.
My new Linux box is named Yurie.
Now I have to buy a new notebook, because my old one exploded. The important question is, what is its name?
Logically, it should be named after a petite goddess from a 2007 anime series. But I can't think of any.
Oh, and by the way, I aten't dead.

Sorry, still recovering from an unexpected total existence failure here at Pixy Labs. But during my recuperation, I got a chance to catch up on Moyashimon.
Originally, Shinsen Subs was fan-subbing this show; then their translator had to leave for personal reasons. BSS picked it up, but their release of the later episodes was delayed. SEES took up the slack, but stopped when BSS announced that they were still intending to complete the series. Then finally Kiki Delivers delivered.
This is my number two show for 2007, just behind Potemayo. Like Potemayo, it's a quirky comedy, though this time about bacteria instead of potato-cats. I hope to have a full review of it up sometime soon, but in the meantime, if you haven't seen any of it, here's the opening:
And closing:
The show was produced, broadcast, and fansubbed in HD, and looks miles better than youtube, but that gives you and idea of what you're in for.
And if there's anyone reading this who has seen the whole show, a question:
Update: Apparently not.

Hey, this looks kind of cute.
Okay, maybe a little dark, but after all it involves so you can't avoid a little darkness.
Hmm. That was an unexpected turn. How's this going to play out? Maybe -
YIKES!

Lost my copy of Aishiteruze Baby in the great server kablooie of '07. Most of the things I've lost are either (a) also on one of my other computers, (b) backed up, (c) licensed and available on DVD, or (d) rubbish that I don't care about. Somehow I never backed up this one, or if I did, I've lost the backup.
Fortunately, it having never been licensed (a shame, it's a lovely sereies), I have a choice of two complete fansubs with active torrents. I found the AonE torrent first and grabbed one episode; it's nicely done, but seemed a bit odd, so I think I had the Lunar sub before. That's downloading now.
I've queued about 400GB of downloads in μTorrent, everything I could think of that was still available as fansubs that I might have lost. Turns out I rather overdid that and actually have many of them in one way or another. (And a good thing too, because I can only download 120GB a month.) But now at least I can check them off as I restore the backups or locate them on another drive.
I also lost one episode of Nanaka 6/17 and some parts of files from Jungle Guu - the back disks got eaten by mice or something. I was able to restore them both quickly, because the original torrents were still active. Fetch the torrent, stop it, drop in the corrupted files, and it fills in the missing bits. Magic!
Update: Yep, I had the Lunar subs before. But the AonE sub looks very similar - I think they might have applied the Lunar subtitle scripts to the DVD release, since there's no Animax watermark.
Update: Heh. I'd forgotten that scene in episode 3. Perfect child-logic.

So I watch the opening scene of this, and I think to myself, meh, not another Mushishi.
And then the credits roll, and I discover that I am quite correct: This is not another Mushishi. This is something... different. The story makes little sense, the artwork is merely adequate, the animation so-so, the voice acting unobjectionable, the music unremarkable. But it cranks the weirdness up to eleven without becoming either incoherent or merely frenetic, and I have to give it points for that. I'll be waiting for the next episode, and while you may not feel the same after watching the first, I still recommend that you do.
Amoebas: All of them.
OP & ED after the jump.

Kiviak is a gastronomical Christmas treat from Greenland which, for some reason, hasn't been adopted by many other nations. It's made from the raw flesh of an auk which has been buried under a stone in sealskin for several months until it's achieved an advanced stage of decomposition. Apparently, it smells like old blue cheese and tastes very pungent.Sourced here; I'll talk about the anime shortly, after I've had some time to... digest.
