1 I read somewhere last night--maybe wccftech--that the "new, silent" keys are a stealthy way of not acknowledging the "a single grain of dust can break a key" issue and hopefully fixing it.

2 Yeah, they also offered free extended warranties for everyone with the old keyboard.
I have a "magic" keyboard on my iMac.  The next day I went back to the store and got the full-size USB keyboard.  Sadly, they don't sell it any more, but you can get third-party equivalents.

3 "third-party equivalents."
Are any of them built with mechanical keys?
I use a Corsair K70 at work.  I like it a lot better than the crappy things that come with Dells, especially the low-profile keyboards of the last few years.

4 Yep, Matias and Das make mechanical keyboards with a Mac layout.  Others too, but those I know about specifically.

5 I strongly recommend the CODE keyboard; I have one for my Mac at work, and another for my Windows gaming box, both with Cherry Green switches. At a lower price point, there's the MK Typist; I bought the Type A. (yes, I demand Glorious Clatter from my keyboards)

I would never buy another Matias product. Their key switches were nice, but the electronics, construction, and customer service were horrible.

Apple pies are delicious. But never mind apple pies. What colour is a green orange?
