Shut it!
Monday, July 21
I've removed the disfunctional Bloglets subscription thingy and replaced it with a link to some of my work. First up are two albums of my music, Crunchy Frog Blues and What Dance Dance Kitten Did On Her Holiday. I've re-ripped them as 160Kb/s mp3s and oggs, so they should sound better than ever - but not to me, because the cord on my good headphones just broke (waaah!)
In coming weeks, I'll post the rest of my music, some (ugh!) poetry, and chapters from my novels. Look for it!

A big welcome, everyone, to Tuning Spork, who has made the leap to Movable Type and is settling in at his new digs.

Blogging will be erratic - well, even more erratic than usual - because my ISP seems to have replaced the trained monkeys that used to run its network centre with untrained ones. Presumably as a cost-cutting measure.
These untrained monkeys seem to have a fascination for routing loops. In other words, I can connect to them, but my packets just go around and around in their network without ever going anywhere useful.
Plus 70% packet loss to their own web server.
Every few minutes, for thirty seconds or so, there's a window where things actually work, and I can send an email or post something. If I'm quick.
I'm switching ISPs tomorrow.

Kevin of Wizbang explains why it is better to link to Wizbang than it is to link to, oh, say, Frnak:
Through the miracle of Autoreciprocation™, a link to Wizbang is a link to you!
Say, that Autoreciprocator™ is kinda nifty. I wonder how I can get myself one of those...

I got an email this morning from Scientific American with the subject
Astronomers Find Most Ancient Planet YetWhich just goes to show that if you're looking for up-to-the-minute science news, you need to come to Ambient Irony.
I wonder how long it will take them to pick up on the Plant People.

I'm working on a long entry (my top twenty-five anime picks), so I thought I might benefit from using w.bloggar rather than typing it directly into Movable Type.
w.bloggar ate the entry for Urusei Yatsura.
Blah!
Given how long this thing is turning out to be, I might post it in parts - maybe even one part for each show - over the next few days. That way it's less likely to be eaten.

I'll have you know that I've been quoted by both the all-knowing Steven den Beste and the blogfather himself, Glenn (Reynolds). Glenn (Reynolds) even emailed me once!
Unfortunately, my appearance on Instapundit came before I started blogging (and I'm mentioned by my real name too), and my tour of U.S.S. Clueless came on the day that Blogger died. No, not that day, the other day. No, the other other day. Yes, that day.
Foo.
Well, never mind. I'm here for the long haul. If I ever get to the point where I have nothing to blog, I've got 30,000 words of my novel written and I'll post that instead.
And one day, one day, I'll be mentioned on Instapundit again!

Blog of the Day is Bloviating Inanities. Bill, your host, is receiving this singular award for several reasons:
1. The cool name. Bloviating Inanities. I just like to say that name: Bloviating Inanities.
2. Susie likes him.
3. He hates seminars:
There's nothing worse than starting out with the stupid, meaningless, "Tell us a little bit about yourself" bullshit. Man, I hate that. I want to answer, "My name's Bill and I hate seminars. The only thing I hate worse than seminars is strangers asking me to 'tell them a little bit about myself'.All right-thinking people hate seminars. It's a good way to tell if a person is right-thinking.
4. He's funny:
Me: I was born in a small hospital in New Jersey. My Mom tells me I "fell out of her". When I was one, we moved to Chicago, Illinois. Many things happened in Chicago. I met a girl named Kimmy who I played with a lot. Once, when we we're taking a bath together, IWell, yes, enough of that.
5. He has this cool contest going on. The way it works is this: you link to Bloviating Inanities (Bloviating Inanities!) on your blog. Then send Bill an email or leave a comment on his blog to let him know. Then he links to you on his blog!
Neat, huh! Much better than that other contest!
6. There is no reason 6!
7. Bloviating Inanities!
