If I Hear The Blue Danube ONE MORE TIME

I think this one will make its goal comfortably.

1 Pixy,

Hey, remember me?  I'm the guy who complains about something about minx ~once a year.  Apologies for that.  I generally like the system.

But, it's time for another complaint sad .  The comment system at ace.mu.nu is unwieldly.  It's very difficult to hold a conversation there, since he gets 200-1,000 comments on posts.  Would you mind threading comments?  I know it's a big job, but it will make your customers happy and it will probably increase page reloads as people like me will check to see if someone responded.

Thanks in advance!

2 One other thing I just noticed.  Since I haven't commented here in so long, it forgot my info and I had to re-enter my name and email etc.  Then I hit the 'preview' button to read my comment, and it had forgotten my info.  It's of course up to you and not important, but you might want to make the 'preview' button create a cookie just like the 'post' button does.

It's not a big deal because it only happens to people who don't comment much.

3 Yep, both good suggestions.  I'll check out that preview cookie issue, and I'm working on overall improvements for Ace, but not threaded comments yet.

4 If you do threaded comments, which would be nice (but wouldn't affect me; sites as popular as Ace, I don't normally bother reading comments because it takes too much time), it would be good if you minimize the amount of horizontal space the threading eats up, and even better if you could convince him to widen his content section, because threading will probably get messed up before it gets too deep.

5 Sad to say, Wonderduck and Brickmuppet are being spammed again.

6 Pixy, odd bug at The Pond... if you click on the Archives sidebar, many of the months go to my September 11th, 2012 post.  Not all, but many.  Help?

7 Oh, and some months worth of comments appear to have gone on holiday as well... at least, according to the sidebar.

8 Wonderduck #6: You have a post titled simply "11"; that's overriding the year/month path for the November archive each year (normally 2012/11, 2011/11...)

Edit that post, open up the options, and set the path to anything other than just "11", and all will be well.  You don't need to change the title; the path is generated automatically from the title but can be changed manually.

Wonderduck #7: They've drifted out of sync, have they?  Sometimes happens after we delete a bunch of spam.  Fixing that now.

That looks awfully tempting...But given the things I heard about the falling out between David Braben and Ian Bell, I feel a bit suspicious about the crowd-funding version of Elite.

And because I have a copy of the original Elite (For the Commodore 64.), complete with 'The Dark Wheel' novella...RIP Robert Holdstock.

10 You're my hero, Pixy.

11 And because you are SO awesome...

(and also because you never finished the title sentence and I was curious)

12 If you never got to play Elite, The Blue Danube was the music that played when you were docking with a space station.  (As in 2001.)

The process wasn't that difficult, but if you made even the slightest error lining your ship up with the docking bay in the rotating station - DA DA DA DA DA DUM DUM DUM CRUNCH.

After a while you earned enough to buy a docking computer, and things got less stressful.

Frontier Elite made docking at a space station so much easier.  Of course, the other parts of the game drove me nuts.

14 I hate to bug you, Pixy, but my comments have gone all de-synchy and stuff again.  It actually happened BEFORE I cleaned out the recent dose of spam, weirdly enough.

15 Hmm.  Sounds like ice weasels.  I'll fetch the weasel repellent.
