- When lightning isn't fast enough: Redis 6 will introduce client-side caching. (Antirez.org)
With a neat slot-based invalidation scheme. So if your application node is reading back data it previously wrote, and hasn't been updated by another node, it can get it straight from local memory. No network latency, no bottlenecks.
It's in the Redis unstable release right now, which will become a Redis 6 release candidate a few months from now.
- Reddit's /r/technology went on strike for July 4 to protest social media or something. (Reddit)
Nobody noticed, because despite being a default subreddit (or more accurately, because of that) it's a toxic swamp than bans anyone who makes any kind of sense.
- Apple is reportedly working to replace it's garbage butterfly keyboards now in their third garbage iteration. (Tech Crunch)
It may take another two years for them to deliver something that's not garbage though.
- The tech industry seems to have taken a day off somehow.
- AMD appears to have deliberately announced higher prices for Navi to get Nvidia to respond. (Videocardz)
The Anniversary Edition of the 5700XT will be $449. The regular 5700XT will be $399 - $100 cheaper than the 2070 Super, and the same price as the 2060 Super. The base 5700 will be $349.
That makes AMD a lot more competitive.
