Anime Opening of the Day

Finished watching Noragami season one.  It's perhaps not groundbreaking and a bit confused about what it wants to be when it grows up, but the art and animation direction, soundtrack, and acting are all first rate.  It's like spotting something shiny in the distance that looks like it might be a silver dollar and when you get there and pick it up turns out to be a silver dollar.

Disclaimer: I told you butter wouldn't suit the works.

1 Decimated/devastated:  just about nobody gets the right usage of decimated.  It's so common that I'm not even gonna bother taking a potshot at The Verge.

2 People misusing Non-plussed bug me. Mostly because I got really nailed for using it wrong. But now the online dictionary includes both, opposite definitions, although it says that using it to mean unphased is chiefly US and not considered correct, but still commonly occurring.

3  "Unphased" irks me greatly.

4 Wait.
They still haven't worked the bugs out of the 1903 version of their computer language?
Who's even using Babbage engines and punch cards anymore?

5 Since they banned DDT it's grown increasingly difficult to work with those older systems.

6 Pixy, do you want to phase(r) people who don't spell it "fazed"?

7 Brickmuppet, apparently things like cloth factories still use some kind of modern-day descendant of Jacquard looms. (I found this out a few years ago from a cousin who was a manager in the design department of such a factory.)

8 Hence the moths.

9 "unphased" is a perfectly cromulent word.
But it should mean "in sync" and not "unaffected ".
"We are all unphased about the proper use of unfazed."

10 Or out of sync.

Apple pies are delicious. But never mind apple pies. What colour is a green orange?
