He's done a nice job of capturing the feel of the original.

There was a different comic I saw, somewhere, which was Calvin as an old man, just as he has a heart attack. I don't know where it was, but it was really wonderful.

It was multipage, and I wouldn't mind reading it again.

OT: I need to create a new directory called "top" alongside the "files" and "images" directories and I can't figure out how to do it.

I went into Manage/Files and clicked "New Directory" but I can't figure out what I'm supposed to put in most of the fields. I tried it twice and probably created cruft somewhere, but whatever I did, it didn't have any effect I can see.

Is that the right way to do it? If not, what is? If so, how does it work?

3 Yeah, it's overly complex.

Easiest way is to look at an existing directory and copy those settings.

I've edited the one you set up; try it now and let me now if it's working.

4 OK, it shows up in the File Upload choice. Thanks!

5 Yay, new editor!  (Testing with Firefox 4.)

6 Or should I say, testing with Firefox 4.

Well, that's a bug. sad

7 Testing with IE9.   Works fine.  Better in IE9 than in Firefox 4.  Except the icons take up too much room, I'll need to tweak that.

8 Not showing up in Safari. Why not showing up in Safari?

Posted by: QA Pixy at Sunday, May 15 2011 12:58 PM (2yngH)

9 Ah, here we go.  Testing in Safari.  Yes, good!

10 Testing in Opera.  Testing testing testing...  Same bug as Firefox, poo!

Posted by: QA Pixy at Sunday, May 15 2011 01:02 PM (2yngH)

11 Testing in Chrome.  One two three five...  Good!

12 And fixed layout on IE9.  Not in the nicest way, but fixed it is.

13 Buttons tweaked for Firefox/Opera better workage.

14 This is Safari. This is italic. This is underlined. This is not, but it would be if I tried to use the buttons as toggles rather than selecting text and then hitting them. If you turn on any of bold, italic, or underline, you can't seem to move the insertion pointer past the end of the SPAN, so everything after that point is part of an open SPAN that shares the same formatting.
You have to hit return, and then click on the new paragraph to break out of the SPAN. This is bold.
And this is a new SPAN, but it inherited the "on" status of the bold button from the previous one. This is not bold. I had to hit return and then click to break out, then delete the return to get back into the old paragraph.
Still, better than having to insert HTML by hand in the old version.

15 Hmmm. Styling issue with paragraphing, or is Safari still messing with paragraphs? I hit return twice between each of the five paragraphs above, and there's no space between them.

16 Let me poke around a bit.

This is Firefox!

17 Pokety pokety!
This is Safari!

Posted by: QA Pixy at Monday, May 16 2011 05:04 AM (2yngH)

18 Let's try that again...
Pickety pockety...

Posted by: Pixy Misa at Monday, May 16 2011 05:06 AM (PiXy!)

19 Well, I can see the difference, and I can put in a little server-side patch.

But that's some godawful HTML being created. sad

20 Thanks a lot for the quick effort getting the new editor in place!

21 I've been meaning to do it for a while, and I had another long-term user having problems, and I had the weekend free (not that it actually took that long), so...

You're welcome. smile
